Reflexology can be particularly helpful throughout your pregnancy by combating general stress and promoting relaxation, bringing relief from 'morning sickness', easing circulatory and digestive problems and maintaining a healthy hormonal balance.
As your pregnancy progresses, the treatment will be modified accordingly to allow for the changes going on within your body. In the later stages treatment takes place in a well-cushioned, seated position (see picture) with your feet resting on a professional treatment stool, to allow for maximum comfort. Alternatively, you may have experienced difficulties in conceiving. To find out more about how reflexology may help you to prepare for a healthy conception, and infertility problems, please click here. I have completed post-graduate training in Maternity Reflexology through the International Federation of Reflexologists, under a practicing NHS midwife and Renée Tanner - founder of the IFR and a world-renowned reflexologist. | |
How can reflexology help me, before, during and after pregnancy? Reflexology helps to support your body prior to and throughout pregnancy by:
Pre-conception Treatment and Infertility ProblemsYou may wish to ensure you are well prepared before trying for a baby, or you may have experienced problems with conceiving. Whichever situation applies to you, Reflexology can help your body to achieve a healthier state of balance and readiness for conception. Lifestyle and dietary advice will be given to complement the reflexology sessions, and will be an important component of your treatment programme.Where applicable, I will tailor the sessions to work with your cycle of GIFT, ZIFT, or IVF treatment. Medical fertility treatments can be highly stressful, both emotionally and physically. Reflexology can help to alleviate this stress. When applying reflexology alongside these programs, I specifically modify the therapy according to where you are in the cycle, so that it does not counteract or interfere with your medical treatment. This therapy may also help with male infertility, where caused by a low sperm count or lifestyle issues. Again, lifestyle and dietary advice will be a crucial part of your treatment. If you would like to know more, please feel free to call me or make an appointment to come to my practice to discuss this further, without obligation*. * All information provided is treated with the strictest confidence.
